OFFERS SMART OPTIONS DURING TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES

MARKHAM, ON, March 4 /CNW/ – Despite the current state of the economy and
the consequential decline of the Canadian auto industry, Hyundai Auto Canada
Corp. has enjoyed two consecutive, double-digit year-over-year monthly sales
increases in 2009. The month of February was the company’s best on record,
with a 30 per cent increase over the same period last year. January was also a
positive month for the Korean manufacturer, with sales up approximately 19 per
cent. These two months of strong sales come on the heels of the company’s best
year on record; a 17.5 per cent increase over the previous year made 2008
Hyundai’s best year ever with over 80,000 units sold.
“Although we’re in the midst of the toughest economic situation to impact
the Canadian auto industry in recent history, we’ve been able to effectively
market our vehicles to produce record-breaking results,” said Steve Kelleher,
president and CEO at Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. “Now more than ever, we believe
it’s smart to buy a Hyundai. We offer quality, dependability and value. And
our Smart Advantage Program, with new lower selling prices combined with zero
per cent purchase financing, makes our vehicles the best choice out there for
consumers.”
Adding strength to the carmaker’s momentum is the recognition its vehicle
line-up is attracting. The company’s new luxury-focussed performance sedan,
the 2009 Genesis, was named both Canadian Car of the Year and North American
Car of the Year. The 2009 Santa Fe, Entourage and Veracruz each received the
highest safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IISH),
and the Accent was named “Most Dependable Sub-Compact Car in the U.S.” by J.D.
Power and Associates in its 2008 Vehicle Dependability StudySM.
