CAA Releases its Annual Driving Costs Brochure

OTTAWA, ONTARIO–(Marketwire - April 10, 2008) - Back by popular demand, the 2008 edition of the Canadian Automobile Association’s (CAA) much anticipated Driving Costs brochure is now available (www.caa.ca).

A comprehensive look at the total cost of personal vehicle ownership in Canada, Driving Costs is a perennial favorite among both CAA members and the general public from coast to coast. Once again, CAA has teamed up with Runzheimer International to capture the average cost of private vehicle ownership of a mid-size car and a minivan in Canada.

“This is another tool for our 5.2 million members to use as a way of keeping their personal vehicle costs down” said CAA President, Tim Shearman. “Our Driving Costs brochure is one of our most popular and well used tools and is one of the many services CAA provides to ensure peace-of-mind when travelling at home or abroad.”

Mr. Shearman added, “CAA offers our members, and all Canadian drivers, access to information that empowers them as motorists. CAA provides documents and information on issues such as: Eco-Driving, distracted driving, CAA Car Buyer, AutoAdvisor, and CAA Roadtest - all available through www.caa.ca . We hope that these tools will help Canadians develop safer, more environmentally friendly and potentially less expensive driving habits that will help them to reduce their cost of ownership.”

Driving Costs is designed to help motorists determine operating costs whether going on vacation, considering the purchase of a new vehicle, or adding an additional vehicle to help juggle a family’s busy lifestyle. The calculations are based on fuel consumption using year-end 2007 gas prices; maintenance, such as oil and tires; vehicle depreciation; insurance; and a number of other factors.
