GM to Display 42 Vehicles, Introduce Global Concept Vehicle at Auto China 2008
Shanghai, China – General Motors Corp. and its Chinese joint ventures will display 42 production and concept vehicles at Auto China 2008, which runs from April 20 through April 28 in Beijing.
Making its global debut at this year’s leading auto show in China will be the Buick Invicta. The luxurious concept car reflects the way GM utilizes its design and engineering talent around the world to execute a premium vehicle with international appeal. Invicta, which is Latin for “invincible,” represents the evolution of Buick’s global design direction from the Riviera concept, which GM unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2007.
The Invicta is one of a range of Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Saab, Opel and Wuling vehicles that GM and its Shanghai GM and SAIC-GM-Wuling joint ventures will be showcasing on their combined 4,700-square-meter stands. Among the other models being featured are the all-new Cadillac CTS, Buick LaCrosse Eco-Hybrid, new Chevrolet Aveo, 2008 Chevrolet Spark, and new offerings from Opel and SAIC-GM-Wuling.
In advance of the opening of Auto China 2008, GM will introduce its lineup of E-Flex concept vehicles at GM Premiere Night on April 19. The unique products that will be shown include Chevrolet Volt and Opel Flextreme, as well as the Chevrolet Camaro, which played the role of Bumblebee in the movie “Transformers.”
“Our exhibit at Auto China 2008 will demonstrate the GM family’s leadership position in China’s automotive industry,” said Kevin Wale, President and Managing Director of the GM China Group. “It also will show where GM is headed and how our company is contributing to the sustainable development of the automotive industry by sharing our most advanced products and technologies with our partners in China.”
